About us

Hurstpierpoint Pre-School began life as a parent-led playgroup in 1967, intended to bring together the community and support new families. Over time we have developed and become a provider of Early Years education, but our core aims remain the same.

We have been in our current home of the Village Centre for more than 40 years. Our manager Carey Tighe has led the setting for over 20 years, supported by our deputy manager Lesley Marsh. They lead a team of friendly, caring staff, many of whom have sent their own children here.

We became a registered charity in 1993, and our charitable aims are to enhance the development and education of Pre-School children and their families by offering appropriate play, education and care.

We now have a fully established Forest School offering which was originally started in 2013 by Helen Brangwyn. Our current Forest School Leader has been in the role since 2022. Forest school is hugely valuable for both children and staff, and we feel fortunate to be able to offer year-round forest school to all our older children.
